City of stars

29 April, 2025

“We live in a future with no right to privacy. As wanting privacy means no right to life” City of Stellaris. Quite literally city of the stars.

Future world cube glowing architecture. Bright orange lighting between cubes that form a sort of pyramid shape outline when put together. It was a comforting warm glow that emanated throughout the entire futuristic city.

I had Moved away from family to live on this island. They don’t know I’m there. Worked at some big sort of tech corporation and lived a very easy life in a modern house which was two stories and had glass railing around the deck. Most of this world was dark overcast lighting with the orange glow from that super structure. One that feels homely and you don’t realise you miss it until it’s gone.

After some time I Went back to home country found some friends trapped in a sort of slave labour scenario but they didn’t know it.

Went through a bunch of schemes to help them escape while being chased Hit with poison from snake looking thing Time magic was involved Location childhood school Woodstock. Another friend would help be a distraction so I drew a map for them to follow across the ocean back to my island before they split off and ran.
I Hot wired a van to escape and drove it of into water and back to Island I live. It was easy. From outside the van I just looked under the wheel and yanked out the cables plugged into the key cylinder. Then twisted them together and pushed a button on the dash. Meet friend there who’d lead ahead on a kayak across ocean to the island as a distraction to get the bad entities off our tail

Once landing on the beach, Walked through long dark tunnel from beach on island. There was banter about this modern world and how it’d be better for my friends. As we got closer to the other end of the tunnel that orange glow grew and ended up in hallway of place I worked at.

Get separated from friends by a lady who says I need to come with her and taken to a disciplinary room with a movie playing about being a hero and what is and isn’t heroic. This room is white with windows and some small plants. Comfortable and modern with wooden high chairs. This is where I mention the quote.

I think the irony in this dream is that we sometimes don’t see the poor conditions of our own life while we judge the conditions of other’s lives. Even though we might have some of the same issues.
